5-4 Replacing open lead-acid batteries in vehicles and equipment with sealed
lead-acid batteries.
1. Most military vehicles use batteries in sets connected in series-parallel.
2. A battery set of this kind can only function properly if each individual battery is
of the same type.
3. To achieve maximum battery life every effort should be made to install from the
same manufacturer and with the same release date.
4. It is best to replace the complete battery set, even when only one battery in the
old set is defective. The serviceable batteries from the old set can be used for
other purposes.
