1. PURPOSE. The purpose of this TB is to allow aviation units to replace the troublesome 24-volt
aircraft battery used on the AGPU with two 12-volt, maintenance free lead-acid batteries.
2. PRIORITY CLASSIFICATION. URGENT.
3. SUMMARY OF PROBLEM.
a. Keeping the battery on the AGPU charged has always been a major problem area. This is true
whether the lead-acid or NiCad battery is used.
b. These batteries are expensive and require maintenance.
4. INSPECTION PROCEDURES.
a. The electrical system should be checked for any electrical leak that would drain the battery and
necessary fixes applied before replacing the battery.
b. The battery compartment should be checked for corrosion and repaired as necessary.
